Mooring Minute: Falling Forward

When things get hard, and the tough get going, you can either sulk and dwell on how unfair the situation is, or you can try to figure out how to make an ugly situation work in your favor. To fall forward!
The world is tough! Sailboat racing can be challenging. If you aren’t careful and you get out of sync with the wind, current and waves, soon you will be driven to the back of the fleet, and that’s where you will stay if you let it!
Winning is about taking these knocks and falling forward. The key is to accept your blows, adapt your plan and fall forward.
We all need to remember, it’s the struggle which builds character, it’s what makes each of us stronger and better for the effort.
Nothing teaches you more than standing shoulder to shoulder with your competitors, taking what each shift in the wind and change in current in stride then the sport of sailing. Each outing is about accepting each hit and miscue, each penalty circle and an unfortunate shift in the breeze but yet keeping your composure and sailing in grace and falling forward. As the game is in front as the best in all of us is lies ahead!
So untie the ties which are holding you back and head out and build your legacy!
